Access
From the town centre, you can enter the walk from
West Saint Helen Street. The sign post on the right sends
you along a path leading to Saint Helens Court and into the
path. The other main entry to the walk is on Drayton Road by
a pedestrian crossing. The is also access from Ock Street by
entering Ock Close and continuing on the path past the children's
play area |

Connectivity
The main benefit of the walk is that it
connects Drayton road with the town centre so, if you are on foot or
cycle, it is a much nicer route than using Ock Street.
Walk 5 of our Healthy
Abingdon Circular Walks includes the Ock Valley River Walk.

The Walk
This is a beautiful walk along well kept paths. Here,
the River Ock divides into two streams so you have water on both sides
as you follow the path. All access points to the walk involve
footbridges.. The walk is shady because of the many mature trees.
The paths for the main part of the walk are formed from
compacted gravel but are paved at the at the Drayton Road end. The
whole length is suitable for cycling or taking push chairs. There are a
few benches along the path where you can take a rest or just enjoy your surroundings The
route from the Drayton road to the town centre end of the walk is around
790m. Note that, in very wet weather, the route is subject to
flooding. There are informational notice boards at both ends of
the walk.
